These are some of my current favorite "deads," either from recent times or all-time favorites. This page will probably change over time because my taste will evolve and I didn't want to fill up the entire page just yet, haha. There are a variety of reasons why these made the list. Some are "firsts," some have great composition, some have striking colors, and some are just really goofy and fun to look at. You'll notice a lot of recurring corpses like me, Jamie, Jon, and Dave. —Peabe

Jon, a DFTC MVP, and I came up with the idea of introducing video to the DeadFriends Travel Club while hiking through Ghost Ranch in New Mexico. Jon took the plunge and laid in a river along the hike, and a new excitement for "deads" was born.

Dave is another DFTC MVP. Before the project went on hiatus, he was traveling all over the world while sending me the occasional dead. He lived in Spain for a while, so there are quite a few deads from all over España.
2005
This is another oldie. On one of the many visits to Jon, we ran around New York taking deads everywhere. I love this photo because we just happened to catch a passerby looking, and since it's New York, you can assume he did nothing and went on with his day, lol.

This photo is one of my favorites of all time. Allison really committed by jumping into a pool during a party and struck such a great pose. The colors and lighting are so much fun. It would have been cool to have done video back in the day so her slight movement in the pool could have been captured. Either way, I will always love this photo and constantly check it while looking at the page.

I love this dead by Jamie because it feels so ominous. It might have been the first truly creepy dead added to the collection, and it set a whole new tone. Up until this point, most of the photos were funny, but this one opened the door to dark and mysterious without ever feeling like a gory murder scene.
2007
This was my personal favorite for a very long time. The lighting was awesome and I love the Met, so it was a win that it came out well. I just wish I had a high-resolution version of it, sigh.

I believe this was the first group death. I remember the previous shot where we were all kneeling and waiting for the timer to go off. Right before it did, we all dropped dead. This was after a fun night of karaoke at a spot in NY Chinatown, right near the tombs. I remember flipping back and forth between this shot and the one before it like it was a macabre GIF or flipbook, haha.

Dave captured another amazing shot, this time at the Basílica de la Sagrada Família in Barcelona. I would have loved one from inside the church as well.

Evie and I were so entranced by this video piece at the International Folk Art Museum by Zhang Xu Zhan. Immediately after it ended, we wanted to do a video "dead" to capture some of the film while also having great movement and audio in the background. I love this kiddo so much and I love how she is always open to fun and silly art projects.
